This position will be on a 12-month contract. Appointment of faculty rank and salary will depend on experience and qualifications.

The Cybersecurity program will be housed in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and will offer a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity.

Qualifications

  • Dedicated Christian servant leader.

  • An earned Doctorate in Computer Science/Cybersecurity preferred, Master of Computer Science or related field will be considered.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and/or working in the field of Cybersecurity/Information Security.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in teaching foreign language and applied linguistics with a concentration in Hispanic linguistics.
  • Extensive teaching experience in lower and upper-level courses in Spanish face-to-face and online formats.
  • Excellence in teaching and learning demonstrated through student evaluations.
  • Experience in integrating the Christian faith into the teaching discipline.
  • Experience in curriculum and course development and in-service learning, national and international recognition.
  • Experience in leading and sponsoring the national organization of Sigma Delta Pi.
  • Extensive administration experience at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Extensive experience serving on committees, including peer evaluation and peer reviewing for international conferences.
  • Extensive experience in editing scholarly journals in Spanish and English.
  • Extensive participation and leadership experience in professional development.
  • In addition, experience with organizing and conducting study abroad programs.
  • Native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English.
  • Dedicated Christian servant leader.
  • Active member of a local Baptist church.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching responsibilities will include all levels of undergraduate Spanish language, culture and civilization, general linguistics, methods of language teaching, and advanced composition in Spanish.
  • Applicants must develop appropriate course syllabi and include service learning when necessary.
  • Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and be enthusiastic about mentoring and advising students, integrating faith and learning, using a wide range of technological tools, and working as a team with colleagues in Spanish, including annual participation of faculty development.
  • Participation in DBU-sponsored workshops and various committees.
  • Engagement in ongoing scholarly activity is desirable.
