Basic Requirements

Must be a Christian who is a member of a church that holds Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior, and who holds solely the Old Testament and the New Testament as sacred Scriptures.

General Objectives

  • Providing high-end support for all University Administrative, Academic, and Library network systems.
  • Maintaining a minimum downtime policy.
  • Serve the Programming Department by assisting with personnel support, server administration, systems integrations, and other various operational tasks and projects.
  • Provide security initiatives and measures on all systems, as well as providing routine audit checks and reports.
  • Provide support where needed on hardware and software issues on all systems.
  • Maintain in-depth documentation of all systems and internal processes.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support when required.
  • Provide training and documentation of internal department procedures.

  • Experience working with Ellucian’s Colleague applications on the UniData DBMS is preferred, but consideration will be given with equivalent work experience in other databases.
  • Experience with the IBM’s AIX Unix platform.
  • Strong database design knowledge is required.
  • Experience working with Visual Studio, Transact SQL, Java, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Office products, PowerShell, .Net, and Entrinsik Informer reporting tools is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of demonstrated experience and a bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining database-dependent applications written utilizing several different languages, including Envision code.
  • Support departments on campus and supply access to the records those departments maintain including student information records and alumni records.
  • Create reports using UniQuery scripting and/or Entrinsik Informer reporting tools for retrieving records from Colleague UniData Db which is used to track university-related business, student academic records and financial records.
  • Support major vendor applications such as Ellucian’s Colleague, OnBase document imaging, Blackboard LMS, and others.
  • Aiding in the maintenance and enhancement of existing software and documentation including debugging, documenting code, and modifying routines.
  • Provide customer support and conflict management when dealing with university staff and students.
  • Report any security violations or policy violations to the Programming Manager and the Vice President for Information Technology.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on processes and services on the university systems of responsibility.
  • Assist in the Disaster Recovery procedures and documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
