Do's and Don'ts of Interviews


Do dress appropriately for the position.

Do arrive fifteen minutes early for the interview

Do have patience and bring a pen or device to take notes

Do research the company and find out as much as possible beforehand

Do fill out the application legibly and completely

Do show interest in the company and be prepared with questions

Do have a clear career path

Do show confidence and poise

Do be open-minded

Do be honest and truthful

Do focus on the positive

Do look the interviewer in the eye



Don't chew gum

Don't be unprofessional in attitude and manner

Don't use poor grammar

Don't lie

Don't be afraid to talk about your strengths

Don't be vague and uncertain about your career goals

Don't slouch

Don't say that you have no weaknesses

Don't make excuses

Don't condemn past employers or employees

Don't forget to thank the interviewer for his/her time

Don't be underdressed
