Program Requirements

The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership offered in the Cook School of Leadership may be completed entirely online. Students progress through this 60-hour doctoral program taking 8-week classes as a cohort. The program emphasizes a practical approach to leadership development, incorporating both theory and research, while accentuating the servant leadership model. The Christ-centered program is designed to produce leaders with the practical knowledge, training and unique skills necessary to develop other leaders.

The degree consists of:

  • 15 hours of core studies in educational leadership
  • 18 hours of studies in a selected concentration
  • 12 hours of research studies
  • 15 hours in dissertation research and writing

 

Ed.D. in Educational Leadership Concentrations

Organizational Leadership
Tailored for professionals in diverse industries, this concentration focuses on honing leadership skills that ready practitioners for an array of dynamic leadership positions.

Higher Education Leadership
This concentration features focused studies in the administration and leadership of higher education institutions, preparing practitioners to emerge ready to lead and innovate in the academic world.

Ministry Leadership
Designed for those serving in or seeking to serve in Christian ministry, this concenration provides the essential skills and knowledge to effectively lead educational programs in churches, Christian schools, or other non-profit organizations.

Global Leadership
Crafted for professionals in diverse environments, this concentration is strategically designed to enhance leadership skills and prepare practitioners for success on the international stage.

Cohort Structure

Students progress through courses and the dissertation process as a cohort. The cohort model provides additional support and connection for students studying in an online environment. New cohorts start in August of each year and take classes each spring, summer, and fall.

Online 8-week Classes Allow Students to Finish in 3 Years 

Students take all courses in the Cook School of Leadership Ed.D. in Educational Leadership online within 8-week terms. The dissertation process is interwoven throughout the course rotation schedule, allowing students to complete the entire program in three years.
