Confirming Your Student Loans on Loans by Web
*Please note that our process has changed and you will need to carefully follow these instructions to finalize your Federal Stafford Loans
Things to Keep in Mind before you begin:
Be prepared to provide the name, address, and phone number of two references.
Provide a valid email address, to ensure prompt delivery of your loan information.
You have the option to electronically sign (E-Sign) a Master Promissory Note (MPN) with certain lenders. To do so, obtain a Department of Education personal identification number, or PIN, at www.pin.ed.gov.
Do not send signed MPNs to the schools. A signed MPN is to go to your lender. The school is notified of your loan electronically.
Understand that TG communicates important loan processing information via email. Promptly read and act upon e-mails from TG (Texas Guaranteed) and TG Customer Assistance -- cust.assist@tgslc.org.
INSTRUCTIONS - Please read carefully.
You can access the application on-line through http://www.dbu.edu (Go to: Financial Aid -> Loans By Web -> Continue to Loans By Web Secure Site) OR go directly to https://lbw.tgslc.org. If you do not have Internet access, you may complete the guarantee process by calling 1-800-294-2749.
Select whichever radio button is applicable to you: “I am an Undergraduate Student Borrower” or “I am a Graduate Student Borrower” and log in using your Social Security Number and Date of Birth.
Click "Complete a loan award" underneath your name.
Under "OPTION 1" click the blue button that says "Begin" next to your loan award. If you "Have No Loan Awards to Complete" please note that you have not been awarded by the financial aid office at this time. Please contact the Office of Financial aid to be sure you have all needed financial forms in order to be awarded.
YOU ARE REQIRED TO COMPLETE ENTRANCE COUNSELING BEFORE YOUR LENDER WILL SEND FUNDS. A screen entitled “Mapping-your-Future” will appear. Please read all the information and then take the test. Once you have answered all the questions, complete all of the required information and click “Submit Your information.” You will see a confirmation page, which means you have successfully completed the first step of the loan process.
Continue the Loans by Web process.
Type in your Personal Information. Click Next.
Type in the contact information for two References. Click Next.
Click Select Lender. DBUs recommended lender list appears. YOU MAY SELECT ANY LENDER OF YOUR CHOICE.
YOU ARE IN NO WAY REQUIRED TO USE ONE OF THE LENDERS FROM OUR LIST. Lenders that accept electronic signature’s for loans are preceded by an asterisk. (To learn more details about each lender you can go to www.dbu.edu/financialaid. For the 2007-2008 year, Dallas Baptist University has selected each of the following Stafford Loan lenders as a recommended lender based on their outstanding products and exemplary customer service to our student's and staff. Although the interest rate for the Federal Stafford Loan is determined by the US Department of Education, the borrower benefits and repayment options are set by the lending institution. You may select any lender of your choice. You are in no way required to use one of the following lenders. They are only being recommended because of their prior commitment to serving DBU and you the student. REMEMBER, YOU MAY SELECT ANY LENDER OF YOUR CHOICE. YOU ARE IN NO WAY REQUIRED NOR OBLIGATED TO USE ONE OF THE LENDERS FROM OUR LIST. )
Select a lender. Click Next.
You will be able to review the loan amounts for which you are eligible. You may then accept, reduce or refuse the loan(s) amount.
When processing is complete, you will see the word “Guaranteed” in blue across the screen. If you receive an error message, contact TG’s Customer Assistance department at 1-800-845-6267 for help.
Finally, you may select to E-sign or print your Master Promissory Note (MPN). If you choose to print, sign the MPN and mail it to your lender. Do not send the MPN to DBU. Your lender will not send loan funds until they have received the signed MPN from you. DBU will be notified of your loan guarantee by electronic transmission.
Click Back to create another loan request.
Click Logout if you are done.
