2003 National Championships

The DBU track and field team traveled to Findlay, Ohio on February 22, for the 2003 National Christian College Athletic Association Indoor Championships, which were held at the University of Findlay. Overall the teams finished very well. The women finished 7th overall and the guys finished 8th.

For the women, Andrea Jones won the national championship in the 55-meter hurdles and set a meet record. She also finished 4th in the 400-meter dash and second in the long jump. Deleana Giles finished 2nd in the 800-meter run and Dana Sneed placed 3rd in the 55-meter dash and 4th in the 200-meter run and Laura Chancellor finished 3rd in the triple jump.

The men had several place in the top 6 of their event and most set personal best times for this season at the national meet.

“Overall the team did great this weekend. This was the best performance that DBU has ever had, since I have been part of the track and field program, Head Track Coach Denny Giles said. “We are now looking forward to the outdoor season.”
