Athlete Spotlight

Michelle Grose

Cheerleading

Michelle Grose, a freshman DBU Patriot Cheerleader, is the Athlete Spotlight for the month of May.  Michelle has excelled in serving as one of the leaders on the team although she is only a freshman.  She is always positive, upbeat, and encouraging to the other team members and you will never see her without a smile.  Grose is highly respected by the other girls for not only her creative ideas, but also her optimistic attitude.  Her dedication and passion for cheerleading allows her to continue to improve in every aspect of the sport.

In the 2007-2008 Patriot Cheerleading year, she served as a base for one of three stunt groups, and her stunt group was definitely the strongest of the three.  Although there were times when stunts may not have hit, she was always encouraging to her other stunt partners to try again.  She is a strong tumbler and has great jumps.  Grose is physically capable to handle any task given to her and has such a contagious personality, which makes her the kind of athlete every coach wants on their team.

Not only are Michelle's athletic abilities being rewarded by Dallas Baptist University , but the Universal Cheerleaders Association has chosen her to be a part of their summer 2008 camp staff.  This is a tremendous honor to have one of the Patriot Cheerleaders serve for one of the most esteemed association for cheerleading.  Grose is a wonderful representative for DBU and will serve as a great representative for UCA with her outgoing personality coupled with strong leadership and a humble disposition.

Off the court, Michelle is also a delight in the classroom and has shown that by her academic success.  She recently received the President's Academic Excellence Award at the 2008 Athletic Banquet, which is an award for all athletes who receive a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Serving as one of the two co-captains for the 2008-2009 Patriot Cheerleading year, Grose will get the opportunity to lead the team and will be a remarkable role model for the younger cheerleaders.
