Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Phi Theta Kappa Online Application

The Phi Theta Scholarship is available only to new incoming transfer students meeting eligibility requirements. Students who wish to apply for the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship must submit their PTK Certificate to DBU admissions along with their online application.

The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship is to be used in lieu of the Academic Scholarship Awards for students living on campus and the Commuter Scholarship Awards for students living off campus. It may be awarded in addition to the Christian Service Scholarship and the Christian Leadership Scholarship. Students must complete all requirements for the Christian Service Scholarship and the Christian Leadership Scholarship to maintain the PTK scholarship.

Recipients of the scholarship must:

  1. Be a member in good standing in Phi Theta Kappa.
  2. Enroll in and successfully complete the DBU Christian Leadership course during their first year of enrollment.
  3. Be enrolled as a full-time student.
  4. Be involved (for at least six hours per month) in a volunteer service or ministry activity.
  5. Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and any other required paperwork, as requested.
  6. Maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
  7. Maintain moral and ethical standards that would be exemplary of the life of Christ.

Students meeting all eligibility requirements may be awarded $10,000 per academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) if living on campus and $6,000 per academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) if living off campus.

The scholarship committee will evaluate each candidate based on his or her qualifications. The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship is a monetary award that shall be applied toward tuition only. DBU renews the scholarship on a year-by-year basis until a student has attempted a total of 120 undergraduate hours of college credit, including hours transferred from other colleges and universities.

Maintaining Your Scholarship

Living on campus allows students to be fully engaged in the DBU experience. On-campus residency is required for all DBU Scholarships except the Commuter Academic, Transfer Commuter, and the Phi Theta Kappa scholarships.

Students must continue to maintain specific overall GPAs to remain on scholarship at Dallas Baptist University. Learn More >>
