Fifth Year Accounting Student Scholarship Program
The Texas Public Accountancy Act has established a scholarship program for fifth-year accounting students funded by Texas CPAs who contribute $10 annually through license renewal. The purpose of the Fifth-Year Accounting Student Scholarship Program is to provide financial assistance to students intending to take the CPA examination as Texas applicants and ultimately serve this state's residents.
Priority deadline to submit applications to the Financial Aid Office:
Fall semester: September 15th through December 13th
Spring semester: January 15th through May 13th
Summer semester: May 15th through June 13th
Open To
Fifth-year accounting students.
Eligibility is based on a point system that includes financial need, cost of attendance, grade point average (GPA), and residency.
Scholarship Amount
The maximum lifetime award per student is $12,000. (Rule 520.5)

How to Apply
- Complete relevant applications.
- Submit the final application as directed by Dr. Jaime Grandstaff (Accounting Department
Chair; Professor of Accounting) at Dallas Baptist University. Dr. Grandstaff will verify eligible applicants and complete Section II of the application. - Eligible applicants will be forwarded to the Office of Financial Aid by the specified deadline date for completion of Section III (certification of eligibility & award amount).
- Students must have a completed financial aid file before applications can be processed.
- Scholarship awards will be added to the student's financial aid package.
- Award notifications or revised award notifications, with adjustments, will be sent to the student’s MyDBU account.
