Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG)

The total Texas Equalization Grant (TEG) is a State of Texas grant program for Texas residents attending private, nonprofit colleges or universities in Texas. The total TEG funding allocated to Dallas Baptist University is determined annually by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and is subject to change each year.

The TEG is provided to both undergraduate and graduate students (with some restrictions) and is meant to help offset the difference in tuition cost for students attending private universities in Texas.

Priority consideration is given to students with the greatest tuition differential and demonstrated financial need at the beginning of the academic year. By state rule, a student’s TEG award cannot exceed the lesser of their financial need, tuition differential, or the program’s annual maximum. Awards are structured to ensure funds are directed to students with the highest demonstrated need.

If additional state funds become available later in the award cycle, DBU may issue limited mid-year awards to other eligible students. The Office of Financial Aid will notify those students if and when such funds are available.
