Employment/Work-Study Aid
Dallas Baptist University participates in both federal and state college work-study programs, offering part-time employment opportunities for students who demonstrate financial need as determined by their aid application. These programs allow students to contribute towards their educational expenses by working in approved on-campus departments or through community service partnerships. Earnings from work-study are funded by the Federal or State Government in partnership with DBU.
Federal and state work-study eligibility is determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for Student Aid (TASFA) which are reviewed by the Office of Financial Aid to determine eligibility and award amounts. Students must actively seek eligible employment by contacting departments or community partners participating in the program and participating in interviews with their respective supervisors. Work-study funds are not applied to the student’s account; instead, students receive their earnings directly through DBU payroll after securing an eligible position and beginning work.
It is the student's responsibility to find and apply for a job. The Office of Financial Aid can assist with confirming eligibility and connecting students to available work-study opportunities.
- Students must complete all necessary employment and payroll documents before starting their employment.

- Wage policies are set by the University in accordance with U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. Department of Education guidelines.

Work-Study FAQ's
Work-study can help students build valuable professional experience and networking opportunities. Through the program, a portion of student wages is covered by federal or state funding, which enables departments and community partners to hire more students.

- Community partner employees: Timesheets must be verified by both the site supervisor and the Office of Financial Aid.
Before payroll is processed, the Office of Financial Aid reviews and certifies all hours to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
