Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant is an additional grant available to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need. Priority consideration is given to Pell Grant–eligible students with the lowest Student Aid Index (SAI) values, typically ranging from negative to zero. Every school that participates in the FSEOG program receives a limited amount of funding, and award amounts vary by institution based on available federal allocations.

Eligibility

Available to matriculated undergraduates who have NOT earned a First bachelor's degree and who demonstrate exceptional financial need as determined by the FAFSA. You must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen to receive federal aid. Priority is given to students who file their FAFSA before the March 15 priority deadline.

Award Limits

Typical annual awards are structured as follows (subject to available federal funding):

  • Full-time enrollment: $2,000 ($1,000 fall / $1,000 spring)
  • Three-quarter time enrollment: $1,000 ($500 fall / $500 spring)
  • Half-time enrollment: $500 ($250 fall / $250 spring)

Award amounts are subject to change annually based on the level of federal funding allocated to DBU.
