Commuter Christian Service Scholarship

The Commuter Christian Service Scholarship is available for transfer students who live off-campus. Students who receive the Commuter Christian Service Scholarship demonstrate Christian character and are involved in their church, school, and community. This scholarship for transfer commuter students may be used for tuition only.

Open To

Full-time, undergraduate Transfer students who are not living on campus. Please contact your admission counselor with any questions.

Scholarship Amount

The Christian Service Scholarship is valued at $4,000 per academic year for qualifying students. The Christian Service Scholarship is limited to eight full-time semesters, is applicable to tuition charges only, and is reviewed annually.

How to Apply

Be enrolled as a full-time student living off-campus. There are no additional applications to apply for this award. Eligibility for the Commuter Christian Service Scholarship is determined by the information provided on the student's application for admission. Students will be considered for the Commuter CSS and Commuter academic scholarships at the time of acceptance.

If you are a returning/continuing student and were previously awarded the Christian Service Award and have moved off campus, you have the option to complete a Scholarship Appeal in order to apply for the Commuter CSS Scholarship. Please contact the admissions office for more information.

Specific Requirements

  • Students must enroll in and successfully complete the DBU Christian Leadership course during the first year of enrollment.
  • During the first few weeks of each semester, declare an area of ministry for that semester (online forms will be provided).
  • Be involved (for at least six hours per month) in a volunteer service or ministry activity.
  • Complete and submit all Ministry Journal requirements each month.

Maintaining this Scholarship

To remain eligible for a DBU Commuter Christian Service Scholarship, eligible recipients must:

  • Be residing off-campus and classified as a Transfer Commuter upon admission.
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.
  • Progress toward the completion of their program of study at a rate that will ensure graduation is a reasonable length of time (meet Satisfactory Academic Progress).
  • Maintain moral and ethical standards that would be exemplary of the life of Christ.
