Dr. Chuck Roberts is a third-generation educator from a family firmly rooted in education. After graduating from Union University with a certification in elementary education, he moved to Texas to begin his teaching career. He spent 34 years in Mansfield Independent School District, serving as a fifth-grade teacher, elementary assistant principal, and principal of both intermediate and elementary schools. He has always felt called to teaching and thoroughly enjoyed his career in public education.

Beginning in 2003, Dr. Roberts served as an adjunct faculty member at Dallas Baptist University. During his years as an adjunct, he sensed a calling to higher education. Following his retirement from public education in 2014, he earned his doctorate and joined DBU as a full-time faculty member. He teaches courses in the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs in the College of Education. Dr. Roberts enjoys sharing what he has learned throughout his career in public schools and higher education. He has presented workshops on campus and at state conferences, sharing his experience and expertise with fellow educators.

Dr. Roberts and his wife, Judy Roberts, have two children, John David and Julie. John David is a fourth-generation educator who serves as a teacher and head baseball coach at Sam Houston High School. Julie is a stay-at-home mom who enjoys working with her children while they attend a university-model private school. Dr. and Mrs. Roberts are also proud grandparents of seven grandchildren, whom they describe as the light of their lives.
