Dr. Joanne Morgan's Background

Joanne Morgan has been teaching at Dallas Baptist University since 2004, first as an adjunct for three years and, starting in 2007, as a full-time faculty member through her retirement in 2020. Since her retirement from full-time, Dr. Morgan has continued to teach as an adjunct professor and work part-time as the director and advisor for the undergraduate Communication Studies Major.

Dr. Morgan graduated with B.S. in Ed. from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls. She majored in speech and minored in secondary education and English. She earned her M.A. in Communication from the University of Oklahoma.

She earned her Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership at DBU in 2013.  Her research focused on creating a positive digital identity for college and university presidents on the presidential home page of their college’s Web site.

Dr. Morgan was instrumental in creating the M.A. in Communication Program at DBU. She planned and created the courses offered, recruited students, taught a variety of classes in the program, and served as the director of the M.A. in Communication program.

She considers teaching at DBU to be the best part of her teaching career, which has included teaching speech and English in the Arlington Independent School District and communication courses, as an adjunct professor, at both Mt. View College in Dallas and Tarrant County College in Arlington.

In addition to teaching in person, she has also written online content for various communication courses offered at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Communication Department.

Her research interests include reputation and brand management for organizations and crisis communication management.

The Lord has blessed her with a wonderful husband, two sons, two daughters-in-law, one granddaughter, and two grandsons. She and her husband are members of First Baptist in Grand Prairie.
