Each year, the Dallas Baptist University Women's Auxiliary Board (WAB) hosts their annual Ruth Awards Luncheon to honor carefully chosen women who exemplify dedication to God, family, others, and Christian education at Dallas Baptist University. The story of the biblical character of Ruth beautifully displays each of these qualities and has, therefore, become this beloved event's namesake. As displayed in the above photograph, each award recipient receives a Ruth Award molded by famed artist Helen Boehm as a token of recognition from the organization.

In the midst of campus being beautifully decorated for the Christmas season, this year's luncheon was held in the Mahler Student Center Great Hall on Wednesday, December 7. To welcome all those in attendance, WAB President Charla Vinyard began the program with opening remarks and prayer. Following this, the DBU Chamber Singers performed two Christmas pieces entitled "Bell Carol" and then led the group in a Christmas carol sing-along. Additionally, DBU College of Fine Arts alumnus Tokyo Garza provided beautiful piano music before the luncheon. DBU students Mateo Vesce and Lauren Englert welcomed the 330 guests on behalf of the DBU student body.

Prior to the presentation of the award recipients, DBU President Dr. Adam Wright gave his presidential remarks and introduced the Ruth Award to the attendees. Kaye Dawn Lunsford, who served as the chairperson of the Ruth Awards Luncheon Committee, recognized her committee while DBU students Emma Eidson and Key Coker announced the 2022 Ruth Awards. The Women's Auxiliary Board recognized Frankie Horn (presented by Janis Coffee and Gerald Horn), DBU Provost Dr. Norma Hedin (presented by Kim Watson), and Kimm Wright (presented by Wendell Wright) as this year's Ruth Award winners.

In closing, Leslie Moulton, who serves as WAB Executive Director, closed the event in a prayer of dedication. "In addition to celebrating the profound gift of Jesus at Christmas, we are reminded of the love and faithfulness of Ruth through the three ladies we honored today."
