Dr. Brian L. Matthews serves as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Professor of Marketing in the Carter School of Business at Dallas Baptist University. Since joining DBU, he has been committed to equipping students for lives of service through academic excellence, principled leadership, and the integration of faith and learning. Prior to his current role, Dr. Matthews gained extensive experience in higher education, public service, and community leadership, bringing a unique perspective that enriches the classroom and the university community.
A three-time graduate, Dr. Matthews earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and a Master of Business Administration in Management from Harding University, graduating with honors in both programs. He later completed a Doctor of Business Administration in Marketing at Argosy University, graduating magna cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. His commitment to academic excellence has been recognized through several honor societies, including Phi Eta Sigma, Mu Delta, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS).
Dr. Matthews is a Texas Academic Leadership Academy (TALA) Fellow and holds a certification in teaching excellence from the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE). His passion for student success is reflected in his dedication to developing future business leaders through mentorship, innovative teaching, and a Christ-centered approach to business education.
An accomplished scholar, Dr. Matthews has published numerous articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals and has contributed as a guest business columnist for the Texarkana Gazette. Above all, he is passionate about helping students discover and fulfill God's calling on their lives by preparing them to lead with integrity, excellence, and a biblical worldview. Dr. Matthews is an ordained minister and continues his commitment to faith, service, and community.
