DBU Honors Dr. David Arnott as Professor Emeritus
Dallas Baptist University is delighted to honor Dr. David Arnott with the title of Professor Emeritus, recognizing 32 years of impactful teaching, mentoring, and scholarship. This designation is reserved for distinguished faculty who have served DBU for more than two decades and receive recommendations from their Dean, the Provost, and the President, with final approval by the Board of Trustees.
Widely known as "The Christian Economist," Dr. Arnott has dedicated his career to helping students and audiences engage economics through a biblical worldview. He earned his B.A. from Greenville College, M.B.A. from Texas A&M University–Commerce, and Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Arlington. At DBU, he most recently served as Professor of Management, teaching Economics, equipping generations of Patriots to think critically about markets, stewardship, and the common good.
Dr. Arnott has authored multiple works on leadership, management, and economics, including Biblical Economic Policy: Ten Scriptural Truths for Fiscal and Monetary Decision-Making, co-authored with Dr. Sergiy Saydometov. His publications have contributed to the growing conversation around Christ-centered approaches to economic life and public policy, and his work has been recognized within the community of Christian business scholars.
An accomplished keynote speaker and global traveler, Dr. Arnott has visited more than 55 nations, leading business study visits and sharing a winsome, practical vision for Christian engagement in the marketplace. His clear, engaging teaching style has served executives and students alike, bringing complex economic concepts to life with accessibility and conviction.
In addition to his classroom teaching, Dr. Arnott hosts The Christian Economist Podcast, where he explores timely topics at the intersection of faith and economics. He has helped build platforms that support Christians seeking to apply biblical wisdom to questions of markets, work, and human flourishing.
During his 32 years at Dallas Baptist University, Dr. Arnott has been a faithful teacher and mentor, shaping the lives of students who now serve in businesses, churches, nonprofits, and public service around the world. His leadership reflects DBU’s mission to prepare Christ-centered servant leaders who will transform their communities.
