Nick Vujicic Encourages DBU Students to Be "Salt and Light"

Dallas Baptist University welcomed internationally known evangelist and motivational speaker Nick Vujicic as the featured Chapel speaker, where he shared his testimony and challenged students to embrace their calling in Christ.
Vujicic, founder of Nick V Ministries, has traveled to 87 countries, speaking more than 3,500 times and reaching millions through both live audiences and global broadcasts. Though he is often introduced as a motivational speaker, Vujicic reminded DBU students that his first and foremost mission is to share the hope of Jesus Christ. "If God can use a man without arms and legs to be His hands and feet, then God can use any willing heart," he told the crowd.
Drawing from Matthew 5, Vujicic encouraged students to live boldly as salt and light. "The greatest two things you can ever do is pray for people and share your story," he said. "Pray, because prayer is powerful. And share your story, who you were before Christ, how you met Him, and what your life is now."
Throughout his message, he reflected on his personal journey. Born without arms or legs, Vujicic remembers that as a child, he believed lies that told him he was a mistake, a burden, and without purpose. At age 10, those lies nearly led him to end his life, but the love of his family gave him the strength to hold on. At 15, he surrendered his future to God's plan. "If God had a plan for a blind man in John 9, then He had a plan for me too," he said.
Since then, Vujicic has devoted his life to sharing the gospel, whether in schools, churches, stadiums, or meetings with world leaders. He has spoken face-to-face with more than 11 million people, and more than 1.8 million have responded to the message of Christ through his ministry. He shared with DBU students that in recent months, he has continued to walk through open doors across the world, often in nations where leaders publicly honor God.
At several points in his message, Vujicic turned directly to the DBU student body, urging them not to delay in living out their faith. "Please don't wait to get out of college to be used by God," he said. "Dream big, because God is a big God. Don't let fear decapitate what God wants to do through you."
He also offered students practical encouragement for discerning God's direction: "When He's silent, go back to what He last told you. When He's silent, go read the Bible, go be with the widow, go be with an orphan, go be a listening ear to somebody. Start a prayer journal. Start praying for people."
In closing, he reminded students that their lives are not defined by their circumstances but by their identity in Christ. "Your history is His story. And until your lungs stop working, your story is not done," Vujicic said.
