Evaluation agencies offer different types of evaluations and use different names. There are two types of evaluations you can submit to DBU. Either option must include the name of the institution that awarded you a degree(s), your dates of attendance, the date of completion of your degree(s), and the title of your degree(s).

Option 1 - Evaluation of Degrees

An evaluation of your degrees. This option is all that is needed for DBU admissions.

Option 2 - Evaluation of Degrees + Courses

An evaluation of your degree and all of your courses. This option is only needed if you are requesting transfer credit. DBU requires an independent credential evaluation in order to consider transfer course credit or to waive prerequisites taken at institutions outside the USA.

Instructions for Requesting Evaluations

1. Contact a DBU-approved evaluation company.*
2. Confirm the evaluation type: Make sure that you order the correct type of report; each company has different levels of evaluation. Review each evaluation type to ensure it includes the following: 
   • The name of the institution that awarded you a degree(s), your dates of attendance, the date of completion of your degree(s), and the title of your degree(s).
   • Copies of all the original academic records.
   • Course by course evaluation if you are looking to transfer credits to DBU.
3. Transcripts: Evaluation companies will require your academic records/transcripts to be sent directly to them. When you request an evaluation, choose the option to send your authenticated transcripts and diplomas with your credential evaluation to DBU instead of ordering additional transcripts. We will accept these transcripts as official saving you time and money.
4. Request the Official Evaluation: We must receive the evaluation directly from the evaluating company. You can ask the company to send the evaluation to us by email or mail:
    

Tip

To have upper-level classes transferred in (Junior and Senior level classes), you should choose an evaluation company that will separate out lower and upper-level classes. Otherwise, all your classes will be evaluated at a lower level. This is not required but can help if you need upper-level courses transferred in.

*Approved Evaluation Companies

We recommend you have one of these evaluators review your transcripts. If you do not use one of these approved vendors, your evaluation may not be accepted. Additionally, we accept credential evaluations from companies that are members of the National Academy of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Associate of International Credential Evaluators (AICE).
