DBU Receives the 2025 Green Star Honor Award for its Outstanding Grounds Management
Walking through Dallas Baptist University's campus, the beauty is evident with the well-groomed lawns and blooming florals. Through dedicated time and effort, DBU has been recognized nationally with the honor of the 2025 Green Star Honor Award given by the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS).

The Green Star Award is presented at the Grand, Honor, and Merit levels across 16 distinct categories, including private, public, commercial, and institutional properties. Each submission is inspected by a panel of 12 judges to determine which grounds have met and maintained an outstanding display with a high degree of excellence.
"This recognition reflects DBU's ongoing commitment to excellence and stewardship in every aspect of campus life," says Senior Vice President Jonathan Teat. "The care invested in our campus environment demonstrates our dedication to creating a space that serves students, faculty, and guests with intentionality and distinction."
This marks only the second time DBU has received this particular award, with the first in 2018. In total, the University has earned four recognitions from the Green Stars Awards program since it began in 1973.

The campus is one of nine University and College grounds nationwide, and one of two in Texas to obtain this achievement. Additionally, DBU has been the only institution recognized in the category of University and College Grounds of less than 250 acres.

Recognized nationwide and presented by one of the industry's oldest programs, this award celebrates both the natural beauty of DBU's campus and the exceptional work of our Landscaping team.
DBU's Director of Construction, Landscaping, and Special Projects, Matt Dewhirst, expressed gratitude for this honor, saying that "receiving an Honor Award reaffirms our commitment to enhancing the beauty and ecological health of our campus as we strive to build a great Christian University that is pleasing to God."
Dallas Baptist University is a comprehensive Christ-centered university dedicated to producing servant leaders through the integration of faith and learning. With an enrollment of over 4,150 students, DBU's main campus is located in the foothills of southwest Dallas.
