Dallas Baptist University grieves the unexpected loss of Dr. William "Billy" Abraham, who began serving as a DBU Scholar in Residence in 2020.  Dr. Abraham, an author, professor, theologian, philosopher and minister, passed away on Friday, October 8, at the age of 73.

A scholar of worldwide renown, Dr. Abraham most recently served as the founding Director of the Wesley House of Studies at Truett Seminary while also serving as a Scholar in Residence at DBU. In addition to his work at Truett and DBU, he also was the Albert Cook Outler Professor of Wesley Studies at Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University from 1995-2021.

“Words cannot express my deep sorrow at the passing of Dr. Abraham,” said Dr. Adam C. Wright, DBU President. “From the moment I met him, I sensed in him not only a wonderful knowledge of the Word and spiritual formation, but also a deep friendship personally. While we are saddened by our loss, we can find great comfort knowing he is rejoicing with our Savior in glory. Please join us in praying for the Abraham family."
