Engage Missions Conference

Mike Taylor, Executive Director of UK-USA Ministries, addresses students in the conference

DBU’s annual Engage Mission Conference took place this September. Composed of a variety of lectures and events, the conference is devoted to training and challenging students to take part in God’s mission and passionately share the love of Jesus Christ through their respective callings as they serve both domestically and abroad.

Senior Braden Smotherman reflected on the impact the conference has made on him, saying, “I’ve participated in the Engage Conference for three years now and my love for the conference has grown greatly each year. I have tangibly seen in my own life the application of the workshops and how they have allowed me to better minister to others. DBU has such a wealth of knowledge and experience, and the Engage Conference puts it on display so that all may learn and grow in Christ together.”

The conference included keynote speaker Mike Taylor, Executive Director of UK-USA Ministries. Over the course of three sessions, Taylor dove into scripture and conveyed to students how we all have a role in God’s redemptive plan. Other speakers included DBU Alumni discussing missions in the workplace, Professor Kaylyn Hopper speaking about reaching Muslims with the Gospel, and Dr. Jordan Davis talking about understanding shame. The week proved to be a powerful time of educating students and sending them out to change the world for the Kingdom of God.

Chris Holloway, Director of Global Missions, said, “the Missions Conference was such a blessing this year to so many students and staff. These lessons will permeate our hearts as we desire to be a people who magnify Christ in whatever sphere He calls us to go!”
