More and More Students Call DBU Home

Students talk, have a picnic, play football, and walk to class on the yard in between the townhomes on campus.

In the fall of 1988, DBU’s on-campus population numbered some 293 students, housed in one of three residence halls.

This fall, 30 years later, DBU will be home to some 2,125 on-campus students. Moving beyond just the residence halls, these future Christian leaders fill apartments, brownstones, and townhomes, creating a unique atmosphere of excitement.

“It is amazing to think about the growth that has happened on our campus these past thirty years,” said Dr. Jay Harley, DBU Vice President for Student Affairs. “In the 1980s, DBU was mainly a commuter school with little activity over the weekend, and now, it is a vibrant campus with activities happening year-round."

DBU’s Campus Housing is set to expand again this fall with the opening of two brownstone buildings, providing an additional set of housing options for students and meeting the continuing demand.

“Every year we are filled to maximum capacity with our on-campus housing for students,” explained Jonathan Teat, DBU Vice President for Administrative Affairs. “We have endeavored to meet that need through traditional residence halls, as well as more independent living solutions through the apartments, brownstones, and townhomes.”

Currently, DBU is constructing a new Residential College on campus, which in its first phase will provide additional housing for some 70 students.
