Dallas Baptist University Announces $2 Million Gift from The Mitchell Foundation to the Carter School of Business
Dallas Baptist University is honored to announce a generous $2 million gift to the Don and Linda Carter School of Business from The Mitchell Foundation, a private foundation established by longtime friends and supporters of DBU, Lee Roy and Tandy Mitchell. This remarkable contribution to DBU's STAND FIRM. STAND OUT. capital campaign reflects the Mitchells' lifelong commitment to Christian education, servant leadership, and advancing the Gospel through business and philanthropy.
Lee Roy and Tandy Mitchell are well known as the co-founders of Cinemark Holdings, Inc., one of the world's largest and most influential motion picture exhibition companies, operating more than 500 theaters and nearly 6,000 screens across 16 countries. Under Lee Roy's visionary leadership, Cinemark became an industry pioneer, setting new standards in innovation, customer service, and global expansion, all while upholding the values of integrity and excellence that have defined the Mitchell family's approach to business and life.
Their commitment to Dallas Baptist University spans more than two decades, including faithful support of student scholarships, the Ford Village Residential College project, and the DBU Leadership Gala. In 2015, DBU honored Lee Roy and Tandy with the Russell H. Perry Free Enterprise Award.
"Lee Roy and Tandy Mitchell embody the very spirit of servant leadership that defines the mission of DBU," said Dr. Adam C. Wright, President of Dallas Baptist University. "Their lives are a powerful testimony to what it means to steward God's blessings faithfully, as they utilize their talents, serve, and give generously. This extraordinary gift will impact generations of business students who will go on to lead with integrity and influence for the glory of God."
The Don and Linda Carter School of Business prepares students for careers in management, entrepreneurship, marketing, and global business through the lens of Scripture and ethical leadership. The Mitchells' gift will help advance key priorities of the STAND FIRM. STAND OUT. campaign, including a new state-of-the-art facility, academic innovation, and opportunities for hands-on business engagement, empowering DBU students to serve with excellence in every sphere of influence.
