On December 5, Dallas Baptist University honored Jacque Delkus, Patty Lovvorn, and Kim Singleton at the 2018 Ruth Awards Luncheon. The event took place at the Hillcrest Great Hall of the John G. Mahler Student Center, hosted by Dallas Baptist University’s Women’s Auxiliary Board.

Every year, the Ruth Awards are given to women who exemplify a devotion to God, family, the community, and Christian education on DBU’s campus. The Ruth Award encompasses the character described in the biblical story of Ruth, as reflected in each of this year’s recipients.

Beth Grace, President of the Women’s Auxiliary Board, began the luncheon with a prayer. Dr. Adam C. Wright, DBU President, shared remarks and an introduction. All three of this year’s awards were presented to the recipients by their husbands, Pete Delkus, Chief Meteorologist at WFAA, Mark Lovvorn, chairman and CEO of Providence Bancshares Corporation and chairman of Providence Bank of Texas, and Dr. Gary Singleton, Senior Pastor of The Heights Baptist Church. Each of these men shared of their wives’ godly attributes, speaking very highly of their character. In addition to the presentation of these awards, the DBU Legacy Choir performed Christmas music. The award ceremony came to a close with a prayer of dedication from Skyla Teat, Executive Director of the Women’s Auxiliary Board.
