Dr. Jan Daehnert's Background

Jan Daehnert serves as the Director of Ministry Guidance and as Associate Professor of Biblical Studies and Ministry. He is a graduate of Howard Payne University where he earned a B.A. in Religious Studies.  He received his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.  Later, he went on to receive his Doctor of Ministries degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. He served 38 years with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, involving many positions such as BSM Director at Mary-Hardin Baylor and the University of North Texas. Then he worked in the administration for Student ministries and later as the Director of Human Resources. Additionally, he directed the Bi-vocational work, and then served in the office of Minister Church Relations with special attention given to helping start the Intentional Interim Ministry program in Texas. At DBU, he began an adjunct teaching role in 2001, and then in 2013, he moved to full-time teaching as the Associate Professor of Biblical Studies and Ministries and the Director of the Ministry Guidance program. He has served as interim pastor in 52 Texas churches. He and his wife Carol have been members of Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving since 1975.
