DBU REPORT 28 PATRIOTATHLETICS The 2023 college baseball season marked DBU’s ninth consecutive trip to the NCAA Regionals, as the Patriots joined Florida, Oklahoma State, and Vanderbilt as one of only four teams in the nation to reach the postseason each of the last nine years. In one of the most historic seasons in DBU Baseball history, the Patriots won a school record 47 games and clinched the Conference USA regular season title in DBU’s first year in CUSA. PATRIOT BASEBALL SHATTERS PROGRAM RECORDS Miguel Santos Zane Russell Kyle Amendt The 2023 campaign culminated with the Patriots being tabbed the No. 2 seed at the Stillwater Regional, where they eventually reached their seventh regional final in the last eight years. DBU also shattered several program records in 2023. The Patriots’ 119 home runs were the ninth-most in the nation, and their 134 stolen bases ranked seventh-best in all of college baseball. On the mound, DBU’s pitching staff compiled a schoolrecord 656 strikeouts. Four Patriots garnered All-American honors, including Kyle Amendt, Grant Jay, Ryan Johnson, and Ethan Mann. Jay was also selected as CUSA’s Freshman of the Year and Mann was tabbed the league’s Newcomer of the Year, while Nathan Humphreys was named the Defensive Player of the Year in CUSA. Following DBU’s regular season title, Dan Heefner was named CUSA’s Keith LeClair Coach of the Year.
