Dallas, TX – Dallas Baptist University recently held the 15th annual Herb Robbins Symposium. This two-day event provides current and former DBU students the opportunity to present on their research experiences and other academic activities. Students from Tri Beta Biological Society and the Texas Alpha Nu Chapter of Alpha Chi hosted the event, alongside the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Named after Dr. Herb Robbins, a professor at DBU from 1969 to 1997 and the dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics from 1982 to 1994, the event began in 2002 after Dr. Robbins passed away after a short battle with cancer. His memory is honored through this event and a scholarship given to pre-medical students at DBU.

At this year’s Herb Robbins Symposium, Preston Hulcy, who graduated from DBU in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in math and computer science, served as the keynote speaker and shared on the research of game development. He also earned a Master’s degree from SMU in Game Design and currently works for a video game design company in Plano.

Throughout the weekend, current students and alumni shared on a variety of topics in the world of science and math, including presentations entitled "Vascular Medicine Research," "The City of Southlake: Environmental Science," "Zebra Mussels and the Spread of Aquatic Invasive Species in West Texas," and "The Light of Life – Water."
