26 Class Procedures (During each class session)  Maintain distance from students. When necessary, some seats have been removed from the front of the class to allow faculty room to move. Plexiglass barriers have been placed in rooms, and professors can carefully move these if so desired.  Make a point to check remote synchronous students from time to time to see if they have questions or take designated breaks to respond to questions. A student may also be assigned to monitor the chat and questions during class. In some platforms an audible tone will identify when a student has raised their hand.  When possible, limit handouts by placing reference materials in the Blackboard course shell and have students refer to the material as needed. Avoid the exchange of materials between faculty and students.  When possible and appropriate, engage students with online polls and/or group activities. Social distancing may be achieved by creating online groups. Headphones may assist in limiting noise when breaking into small groups with others online.  Use of technology and remote learners can sometimes slow the pace of class. Be sure to plan accordingly and save time to bring class to a conclusion.
