Fellow Patriots,
As we count down to Fall Break and settle down into our busy routines for the semester, I would like to begin with a verse that the Lord has recently used in my life, Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, do it heartily unto the Lord and not unto men.” It is sometimes easy to forget our purpose when the objective is to check off everything from our to-do list.
I would like to extend special congratulations to the 5 new Freshman Senators elected into the Student Government Association. I am looking forward to their contributions to SGA so that we may better serve you.
We have ordered a new design for our DBap t-shirts in hot pink and black. You may purchase one from the Student Life Office or from any SGA member.
SGA has been and will continue to pursue solutions to improve your experience at DBU. We recently hosted the first ever campus wide game of Capture the Flag. Thank you to the 100 students who came out to help make the event a success. Due to your positive feedback, we are currently looking into a future date for another game. Check out the Photo Gallery, pictures from the night will be put up soon. We have also worked with Administration to improve the shuttle routes. The shuttle that serves the east side of campus (Colonial Village Apartments and Williamsburg Village Townhomes) will no longer stop at the Crowley Complex. The west shuttle will now be the only one to stop at the Crowley Complex. Our hope is that this will lessen the time you have to wait on a shuttle.
SGA will be partnering with Cater Blood Care to host an on-campus blood drive in the Crowley Co-ed on Thursday, October 2, from 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Please stop by and donate blood. By doing so, you play a vital role in helping save lives. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 28 as SGA joins forces with Student Life to host the annual Great Pumpkin Chase. Over 150 prizes will be given out, so come dressed in your best Halloween costume in hopes of winning the costume contest. If you’re thinking, “oh these are going to be puny prizes, why waste my time?!” I promise they are legit.
In closing, we are here to serve you. Please let me know if you have any ideas, suggestions, or questions SGA can help you with. E-mail me at sga@dbu.edu or talk with one of the SGA members. We would be glad to hear from you.
God bless and God bless America.
Leigha Caron
SGA/ Student Body President
