Commencement Events

Grad Finale

Held a few weeks prior to each commencement date, Grad Finale is a one-stop shop for all commencement needs. Students are able to purchase regalia, order graduation announcements, and a class ring. Representatives from various campus offices will be on hand to answer questions regarding graduation. A packet of detailed commencement instructions is also given. If you are not able to attend your Grad Finale, you will receive an email with the commencement information.

May Graduation

For May Graduation, the next Grad Finale is scheduled for the following dates in the Hillcrest Great Hall of the John G. Mahler Student Center. 

  • Saturday, February 24: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Monday, February 26: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Candlelighting Service

The Candlelighting Service is held the evening before the first service during each Commencement week in the Hillcrest Great Hall of the Mahler Student Center. The program includes testimonies from graduates, reading of scriptures, special music, and a special address from DBU President, Dr. Adam C. Wright. A reception is held in the Patriot Café immediately following. You are not required to attend the Candlelighting service; but if you do plan to attend, you must RSVP to the Student Affairs Office.

Commencement Reception

Immediately following each commencement service, a reception is held in honor of the graduates in the Hillcrest Great Hall of the John G. Mahler Student Center. Graduates, families, and friends are cordially invited.
